Texas Days 5 (part B), 6 and 7

See part one of our Tx vacation here and part two here.

Day 5 of our Texas trip was predominantly the drive from San Antonio to Houston. We took advantage of the hotel pool on this day and just rested a little bit! We had tickets for the Astros/Rangers game that night. The tickets had been gifted to us from a family member and we truly did not know what to expect. Yall. THE STADIUM IS AIR CONDITIONED. Those Houstonians do life RIGHT! We thought we might just stay for a few innings, but it was clean, cool, dollar hot dog night, and the girls were ready to party!

We truly had so much fun at this ballgame! Eva Kate did so well and hung out in between our seats (and ate her way through the game).

So much fun with these people watching a sport I don't even like! hahaha!

Day 6 was fun. It was probably one of the more expensive days, actually, but it was a tourist experience that we couldn't miss! We went to NASA.

We got to actually see the training facility, mission control, the museum and all sorts of fun things. I would say the babies were too young (duh) and the big girls were a little to big. If the girls had been like 3, I think they would've found it incredibly cool. The tour part was super interesting, but the kid area was too young/old for most of us.

Here we are. With US History. Pretty Cool!

Eva Kate in a real live spaceship. Too bad she won't remember it at all!
I loved wandering around the museum. The science and history girl in me loved that part! Moose enjoyed it, but had been to Space Camp and Huntsville before, so it was not super impressive to him.

Day Seven was open as either beach day or water park day. We opted for beach day! We drove down to Galveston.  We had to stop and get some Shipley's donuts on the way! They were truly delicious and lived up to the hype.
One of these children ate all of the sand and the other one consistently crawled to the ocean. You can decide which was which.

We had some sun shade from my giant umbrella that I did not intentionally pack, rather just didn't remove from my car...and had some chair-in-a-bags for that same reason. Oh, and a beach mat. Apparently it pays to keep a randomly stocked car. ;)

After a few hours at the beach, we decided to head home instead of staying the night in Galveston as we had originally planned. We left Galveston around 2 or 3 (ish) and stopped on the side of the Mississippi River somewhere for some UH-MAZING cajun food. We had planned to just keep driving until we got home, but we hit a monsoon around 1 am and stopped for the night.

We made it home by mid-day on day 8. What a fun Texas road trip!!!

Texas Days 3, 4, and 5

Day 3 was a jam packed travel day. Before we went, I borrowed a 3 ring binder from a friend who had done a Texas road trip several summers before. I looked at a ton of her things, added some of our own, and mapped it out. Days 1 and 2 would be in Dallas/Ft Worth, Day 3, we would travel through Waco and Austin, but sleep in San Antonio. We would do days 4 and 5 in San Antonio, sleep in Houston for days 6 and 7 in Houston. Then, drive home. It worked out really well with only one little sleeping snag (that I'll get to in our last post).

So, Day three...travel...and WACO! First Stop: Magnolia Market. I must say, it totally lived up to all its hype. The swings, the bean bags, the games, the shopping, the fun atmosphere...it was a great pitstop on a road day to just chill and sight see.
The Silos in person!

Table for Megan, please?

See, EK Enjoyed her chill day at Magnolia!

These are my people :)

We ate at IN and OUT...because when you see one, you eat at one! It is just what you do! Ironically, on my facebook memories, I had eaten at In and Out on that very day 5 years before in Cali at a grand opening! What are the odds?

Bye Waco!

We then had plans to go to this amazing place called Barton Springs. You had to reserve a slot like weeks in advance, and I did that. It was outside of Austin and the perfect halfway point between Waco and San Antonio to rest, swim, and relax for the afternoon.

However, nature had different plans. The springs had built up mineral deposits and were closed to the public for 48 hours. The problem with a road trip is you can't just postpone until the next day. We had to punt, but found another really cool natural swimming/state park area to hang. It wasn't the beautiful sights we were hoping for, but we had fun nonetheless!

We made our way in to San Antonio for a quick supper and bed in our hotel!

Day 4 was official tour de San Antonio. The nerd in me needs you to know I had been waiting for this day since I made a mock Alamo out of a tide box and textured spray paint in the 2nd grade. If only I were kidding.....
Nonetheless, 20+ years later, I finally made it to the Alamo and it did not disappoint! We took our time touring. It was hot, but not insanely crowded. We did the free tour, and I felt like we were able to experience the entire Alamo in all of its glory. I loved it!

We headed to the Riverwalk and ate a fantastic lunch at Mi Tierra. It was stinking magical. Live music, amazing food. DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I definitely recommend.

We also went to the market on this day, but I don't have any photos! The girls got sweet little Mexican-inspired dresses :)

I feel like we goofed a little on that day because we then walked back to our car, went to the hotel to chill, rest, swim, etc. and then came back downtown for our Riverboat Tour. In hindsight, we may should've rested after the Alamo, then done all of the Riverwalk things at the same time, but alas.

These two girls loved their day in San Antonio, and it won "favorite city" by most of the crowd.

Day 5 was another travel day. Yet again, we were a tad disappointed because BlueBell was having a bacteria scare, so a stop at their factory to grab a bite was thwarted. We headed to Houston on day 5. Stay tuned for the rest and last of our TX adventure on Friday!

Saville Life 2017 June-December

This post is more for my memory than anything else! I like to look back and think through "those times", so here are some highlights from the 2nd half of 2017!

JUNE:
In June, we road tripped to Texas with our whole crazy family! I recapped that trip here.

JULY:
July was insanely full! We did fireworks with all of our closest friends, we prepped and prepped, I went with our Church to the Dominican Republic, then Eva Kate and I went to kids Camp. It was busy, but it was full of the things we love. We also got to catch up with some friends who were back in town for a little bit...AND we went to an auction to support the Meares adoption fund.

AUGUST:
August was back to school and back to Cross Country. Also, can we note the throwback of this cutie who started her senior year in August! August was also a month of loss that began a tough season for the Roberts crew.

SEPTEMBER:
September was a month with all of the running (as it always is). We also snuck away for a little vacation with the Saville crew. We love any time we can get away with family!

OCTOBER:
In October, the cousin twins braved Homecoming to see Aunt Mack on the Homecoming Court in their custom Mustang Gear! ALSO-EVA KATE TURNED ONE! It was a big month for us :)

NOVEMBER:
November brought Cross Country State and Thanksgiving, as well as Livi's first birthday.

DECEMBER:
December was a month of celebration, but also a month of firsts as we "did" the holidays without the patriarchs of the Roberts crew. We hung out with friends and family and made lots of new memories.

And that, my friends, was Saville Life (the condensed version) of 2017.
