Party like its 2015

Typically, my family goes to the beach the week between Christmas and New Years. It is something we have done for what seems like forever and a favorite time to unwind.

This year, Mackenzie had a basketball tournament, so we ended up not going. As soon as I heard we weren't going to be out of town, my wheels started spinning for a NYE party.

At our former church, we had friends who had a NYE party every year. They invited all sorts of people with little to no intimate connection and just had a fun, low key night. I took their idea and ran with it.

I changed out a couple of my Christmasy themed decorations for sparkly New Year themed ones and we were set. We invited the majority of our Sunday School class, some random friends, and family. Everyone brought appetizers, we roasted marshmallows, and we had some fireworks. We played a 2014 year in review trivia game which our friend Jamie
Absolutely dominated.

I have a bench in my entryway and I transformed it to be a little mini-photo booth.

Not everyone made it to midnight, but those of us who did brought it in with style-noisemakers and Taylor Swift of course.

It was so fun to expand our circle and spend time with friends we don't always hang out with. This will definitely be a tradition we will uphold for all of the NYE we are at home!

Best Year Ever

Oh my word! Is it already the 12th? Where have the first 11 days of the year gone?

To recap...they've gone to Nashville with friends and to school for a long term sub assignment.  We've been busy for sure!

I was really intentional last year with goals and hope to be this year as well.

My goals this year are to blog once a week, run 1000 miles, cook once to twice a week, and actively participate in my Bible studies. These are almost identical to last year's goals, but I felt like a more productive individual after accomplishing them...so here we go again!

I'll be back tomorrow to tell you about our New Year's Eve party and Nashville trip, but for today I leave you with this.

We got a puppy. What?!? Baxter is a lab/huskey mix, which is precisely what Moxie is. Ironically, we had a deal that Moose could get another puppy when we have a baby so that Moxie could have a friend and both dogs would live outside. I'm not sure how I had a moment of weakness and my cart got before the horse because clearly-there is not yet a baby in the Saville house.

Nonetheless. We are a two dog family.

Pray for us. Ha!

Year In Review

This year was full of abundance for our family. We had abundant blessing, abundant sorrow, abundant fun, and abundant growth. I am so grateful to look back at all 2014 had to offer my little family.

January

In January, we lived with my brother and Chelsea while we remodeled our house (due to an icky pipe burst), we celebrated my mom's 5-0, we got our first snowfall of the winter, and we made major progress on our house!

February

February was a big month. We moved back into our house, had more snow, I did a grand opening in new England. So, I got to visit my favorite state of Maine in the winter! And… Oh yeah, I ran a half marathon.

March

In March, we redid our backyard, bought a new truck, and did more running!

April

April included another grand opening… Not so far from home. We threw a baby shower for Andi, and our friend group went on a camping adventure in the rain! We celebrated Easter, and I did one more grand opening.

May

May was a fairly lazy month… But we did spend some time just hanging out together, watching basketball, and enjoying spring.

June

In June, we started summer activities at church, hung out with family, our best friends had a baby, and we celebrated Micah's birthday at cross country practice! Oh yeah, we had kids camp in June too. :-)

July

July was full of cross country practice, enjoying hot summer days with family,  The best basketball trip ever to Nashville, and family vacation…

August

We relished the last few days before school began in August, got back to school ready, and I did a long-term sub. August was also our favorite--beginning of fall and college football!

September

September was all about running! Cross country season had begun.  Friday night football, friends, and fun. Also in September the founder of Chick-fil-A Truett Cathy passed away. It impacted me greatly. Finally, we celebrated with Lindsey and Anthony as they got married in September.

October

In October, I spent lots of time at the middle school. We celebrated Mackenzie's birthday, and we had lots of fun with our friends enjoying the fall season! Also noteworthy was that this was the month where our cross country team got runner-up and first place in region! Micah was also coach of the year I was so proud to be a part of this team. Grateful to help my brother.

Also in October, we discovered that we had lost a baby that I had carried to seven weeks.  It was a tremendous loss, but I was so grateful for family and friends who rallied around me.

November

n November, crazy enough, we had snow on the day of cross-country upper state! Our sweet kids did so wonderful and still made it to state, so we enjoyed a fun day at cross-country state the next week. I decorated my house for Christmas, and we enjoyed Thanksgiving with both families.

December

December was full of Christmas fun had by all… All month long!

We had a wonderful year!
