House--Projects and updates

So...I told you several months ago that we put our house on the market. Other than little blurbs in my maternity updates, I haven't shared much of the story...so...here we go!

When my family was in the Dominican Republic, Chels and I updated the room that was to be Eva Kate's nursery. I joked with her that as soon as we accomplished this task, I would surely find a house I liked and be ready to move. Sure enough, the very next week, Moose and I fell immediately in love with a home on zillow. To this point, we called my Aunt and Uncle that very day and said, "we've got to see it!" We saw it, we put in an offer, we got it. Literally...two days. The following day, my aunt called and said, "Let's put yours on tomorrow...can I come take pictures." 

Ha! Cue my housekeeping skills...or not. I called in reinforcements (aka my mom) and we got it photo ready. This was all the last week of July. The very next week was Kids Camp, and I had to trust that Moose would keep our house show-ready without me. I learned a lot about letting go...and he did an excellent job, to be honest! 

We organized and eliminated clutter throughout our home and did some honey-do items that have been on the list forEVER. We had a contingency contract on our new home that lasted until the end of August and were hopeful that the Lord would work out the details. 

Well, August came and went with quite literally 20-some odd showings and a lot of interest, but no bites. The sellers of the home we really liked were generous and extended our contingency a few weeks into September....more showings, more interest. We did get one (rudely) low offer and ignored it. The end of September came and officially, our contingency ended. We were sad, but really trusting that if it was God's will for us to move, we would move. 

The very next day, we got a full price offer on our home. Not exaggerating. 

Since the offer, we have been dealing with little fixes, contract agreements, and things of that nature...and trying to get a lot of that done before Eva Kate gets here, while also not stressing about the home because we don't move until mid-late November. It is an imperfect balance and I truly am doing my best to make it work!

In the meantime, we have gotten some sweet things for EK's room and are going to leave it semi-complete until we move and can give her the nursery that was in my brain from the get go. She won't need a room at this house for the 3-5 weeks she will live here, and she is certainly no less loved without a designer nursery! If anything, she's getting a major upgrade when we move anyway ;)

So, that's what's going on with the house lately! I've gotten slightly sentimental and am beginning to feel like I'll miss our first home that we put so much blood, sweat, tears, and love into...but I know that the next one will be just as special as we raise our girl in our new home for our new adventure! 

Kids Camp

Kid's Camp this year was a little different than it has been in years past. We had a bit smaller group of relatively younger kids. Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun! 

The theme this year was Walk this Way! 

One of my most favorite parts of Kid's Camp is always team competition. Each group is assigned a color and (this year) a name and the kids have to come up with costumes, cheers, etc. We are excited to see who wins each year!

We spend a ton of time playing all sorts of crazy and messy games. This year, I spent a ton of time taking pictures and watching said crazy and messy games :) I didn't miss crab walking on a tarp full of paint...not gonna lie!

Kidz Camp is truly one of my favorite weeks of the year. I love getting to watch these precious 1st through 5th graders become a little more independent, grow in their Spiritual Knowledge, and just grow in a community together. We adults have a fantastic time as well and it is always just a refreshing and special week. 

It was a bit harder for me this year with pregnancy and extreme heat, but I wouldn't trade my week with these great church people for anything in the world! Our church is amazing and this week continually reminds me that our people are just the best around. 

Baby Saville #1. Week 38 (sorry 36 and 37) Update.

So...as my sweet dad would say, here's the deal: The past few weeks have been slightly trying and very long weeks! Our week 36 appointment showed some issues with miss Eva Kate's growth, which led to me holding off on posting so that I could make sure everything was alright. You don't want to post scary details for the public and then be wrong...but you also just don't have the words for "happy" blog updates when you're feeling nervous. Week 37 was spent at three (yep) separate doctors and appointments, measuring our girl, checking her growth and amniotic fluid. All in all, Eva Kate is on the low end of normal in all of the percentages and has "just enough" amniotic fluid to get her through. Let me tell you...that is "Just Close Enough" to give this mama major anxiety and stress! I am so grateful for a God who "gets me" and takes care of my girl...and my anxiety by putting excellent doctors in my path. We go in Thursday for our, hopefully, last check up and will be induced during week 39 next week.

So, back to your regularly scheduled update:

How far along? 38 weeks 

Size: Winter Melon (but probably a tad smaller according to the 7 ... SEVEN... ultrasounds we have had)

Total weight gain/loss: + 32 lbs.  (phew...these past few weeks of stress have done it for me)

Maternity clothes? Trying to get a few wears of my favorites in over the next week! haha

Stretch marks? Nope

Sleep: So awful. I have heard thousands of times that the Lord prepares you before you have your kiddo by reducing your needed sleep. I don't know if that is true or not, but I have been sleeping in chunks for the past couple of weeks. It is not fun. 

Best moment this week: Hearing that we will be seeing our sweet girl next week! 

Movement: Though she be but little, she is fierce ....

Food cravings: ice...still wanting all of the ice

Anything making you queasy or sick: Indigestion and gallbladder pain have become my song

Have you started to show? still feeling that third trimester "huge"

Gender: all things girl around here :)

Belly Button in or out? It pretty much doesn't exist any more ;)

Wedding rings on or off? Either rocking my Walmart rings or my band from when I worked at CFA. 

Milestones: Big girl is ready to go! 

Major Happenings: We decided to move all of Eva Kate's things to our house and get them semi-situated. Since we will be moving in a month, we aren't "finalizing" her nursery in this home. It just seems silly. We set up the bassinet in our room, got her closet ready in her room, and piled/packed several things for the move. I'm so grateful to have my mom in this season to speak reason to me...yes, we must clean and organize. No, we mustn't pack the entire house this week. grin. 

What's Been Going On: Feelings-wise, my anxiety will subside when she is safely here! Hoping my gallbladder pain will as well!!!

 Life-wise: Let's see here, we have been full tilt over the past few weeks getting our house ready to move out of, doctor's office visits galore, and finishing up "regular season" cross country. I am thrilled that I made it through (almost) all of XC and God's timing for our girl is meeting up with life's schedule opening up. Selfishly, I am so grateful.

Dominican Week

I'm going to post my official 36 week post tomorrow, as I have a doctor's appointment and want to wait until after. So. For today, a little Dominican recap. 

In July, Moose, both of my parents, my sisters, and my brother all went with our church to the Dominican Republic. You all are probably quite tired of hearing about my love affair with this country and this trip by now, but sorry...my blog, so I win! 

It truly broke my heart to not be able to attend, but I am so grateful I could help in the ways I did (and I'm also grateful my sweet girl was free and clear from any sickness or issue that could've taken place). 

On Friday morning (think 3:30 am), we met together, prayed and departed for the airport. 

Once we dropped the crew off in Atlanta, I got tons of pictures! Strangely, the majority of photos I received weren't from our people...rather, they were from our translators and many Dominican friends! Grateful for these precious people keeping in touch. One of them told my mom she is also pregnant and due in October. She begged us to pray that her baby boy would be kept safe from any effects of the Zika virus (and update ... he was born a healthy sweet boy on the 18th of Sept!)

The first day, the group got the opportunity to serve a meal to the church. They cooked and hosted a domino tournament on this day as well.

The kids were allllll about some Mr. Micah! He spoke the language and was definitely a fan favorite.

Two days, a group got to participate in a sports camp. Micah shared his testimony and they were truly able to connect with a group of basketball players. Both Mackenzie and Micah were able to share their shoes with some players who played competitive ball. Love this!

To share one more quick story, you may remember that my trip last year was "laborers". Moose went this year, and his trip was wheelbarrows. Moose did not get as much person to person interaction as I did in the Dominican republic. He did a bunch of construction and spent a lot of his time wheeling sand from place to place. They also did a lot of painting, building walls for several locations,  and constructing a bathroom. His trip was wheelbarrows because during several of the trips back and forth, back and forth, many children would jump into the empty wheelbarrow. This gave the men a unique opportunity to play with the children and reach out to them in a special way. These kids were not kids from the school. They were street children or children from the inner-city part of the community.  It shows that even in the most menial tasks, one can reach out if they take the opportunities that God provides for them. While it was more difficult to push a wheelbarrow full of children, these kids were touched eternally and hopefully will begin to attend a church and Sunday school activities at the building where the men were doing construction.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch ;) I shopped for maternity clothes, treated my pregnant feet to a pedicure, and tried to keep busy! 

 Chelsea and I painted our nurseries. It resulted in a beautiful pink one for her, and a gray one for me.  However, as Murphy's Law would have it, we found a house that we are in love with that very next week! Here is hoping that The next owner likes the gray nursery that we worked so hard on!

I also got to work on several pieces of nursery furniture… Luckily those will go with us! I did this cube organizer and had to paint it literally five times plus polyurethane it…phew! Then, this cute little end table that we had found at a yard sale also!  Thank goodness for Downton Abbey to keep me occupied during this time :-)

I tidied the laundry and hung a gallery wall as well. Had to keep busy!!! 

I was so grateful to get my people back! I missed them so desperately on this trip… But I was so grateful that Moose got to experience this time!  The Dominican people are some of the most generous and precious people that I have ever met and I am so proud to claim them as some of our own brothers and sisters in Christ. 

Hopefully, we will get to share this joy and brotherhood with Eva Kate one day.

Baby Saville #1. Week 35 Update.

I have no idea where week 34 went ;) It flew by and I have no picture to document that it existed! So...moving along to week 35. Yesterday, we hosted Chelsea's baby shower and our friend Margaret took some fun maternity pics. I'll share more, but the official sneak peek is here:

How far along? 35 weeks 

Size: Pineapple

Total weight gain/loss: + 25 lbs.  and holding strong

Maternity clothes? Definitely

Stretch marks? Not yet

Sleep: Totally depends on what night it is!

Best moment this week: Hosting Chelsea's shower yesterday. It has been so fun to walk through this season together. 

Movement: She has decided that she wants to help my tummy to stretch by pushing as hard as she can in a spot for an extended period of time. So fun........sort of.......

Food cravings: ice...all shapes, sizes, kinds. It is sort of obnoxious to all around me! 

Anything making you queasy or sick: Indigestion and gallbladder pain are here to stay

Have you started to show? still feeling that third trimester "huge"

Gender: all things girl around here :)

Belly Button in or out? hanging in there...barely

Wedding rings on or off? Either rocking my Walmart rings or my band from when I worked at CFA. 

Milestones: Big girl is between 18-19 inches (and may not grow any longer) and around 5 lbs. Her hearing is fully developed and she is ready to go. Weird, but true fact--her home (my uterus) is 1000 times its original size. WHAT?!?

Major Happenings: Weekly doctor visits. Tomorrow, I will see the doctor who delivered Micah, Mackenzie, and Morgan...too weird!

What's Been Going On: Feelings-wise, Not a whole lot new here....I am having a difficult time sleeping and moving faster than a waddle/walk! She is taking up all of the room. 

 Life-wise: I feel like a broken record--cross country, long-term sub for Mrs. Bumgarner, and attempting to sell our house! We also gave Chelsea's shower this week. More about that to come. Small groups started back this month and I am LOVING being back with these women. 

Looking Forward To:  Fall weather! We have some really exciting XC meets coming up and I am so ready to see what our kiddos can do. 

Life Lately...July 2016

Both July and August flew by with such vigor,I can hardly explain it. People told me that second trimester went by the fastest and they weren't kidding. I blinked and it is September!!! SO..I have lots of catching up to do on the blog front.

We'll start with life lately from July.

As you know, we had my family and Moose's family in for July 4th weekend. We had such a good time celebrating and relaxing with our families together :)

Later in July, Moose went with a group from our church to the Dominican Republic on a mission trip. I have such a heart for that culture and the trip itself, but wasn't able to go this year due to the Zika virus outbreak and my pregnancy. I loved being able to help and prepare, but missed actually being there with the people. 

One of the precious women gifted us with a hand embroidered towel for Eva Kate. I will treasure it!

While Moose was gone (along with my parents, sister, and brother), Chelsea and I got busy....

I ran a race with our Cross Country team! It was my last running experience in this pregnancy and I struggled...but I am so glad I finished it. I love running and am grateful to have been able to do it as long as I did during the pregnancy.

Oh, and in case you missed it, we put our house on the market in July. We are still patiently (ha) waiting on that front, but trust that God has a plan! Continue to pray with us on that front please ;) :)

We went with Micah and Chelsea on a date night to see a play in Pelzer and just enjoyed some grown up time together after a super busy month! July was crazy, but I wouldn't have life any other way! (I think the guy beside me would prefer if it would slow down a tad!!!)

Baby Saville #1. Week 33 Update.

How far along? 33 weeks 

Size: Head of celery

Total weight gain/loss: + 20 lbs.  

Maternity clothes? Definitely

Stretch marks? Not yet

Sleep: Totally depends on what night it is!

Best moment this week: Apple picking with the family :) We got some yummy apples and lots of cute pictures

Movement: Yes! 

Food cravings: ice...all shapes, sizes, kinds

Anything making you queasy or sick: my indigestion has decided it wants to come back. I think she is taking up all of the room in my belly 

Have you started to show? still feeling that third trimester "huge"

Gender: all things girl around here :)

Belly Button in or out? hanging in there...barely

Wedding rings on or off? Either rocking my Walmart rings or my band from when I worked at CFA. 

Milestones: Big girl is between 17-18 inches and around 4 lbs. That seems so big...almost "normal baby size!" I feel like things are happening so quickly. She is keeping her eyes open when she is awake and major brain development happens this week. 

Major Happenings: Back to the doctor tomorrow!

What's Been Going On: Feelings-wise, Not a whole lot new here...still enduring gallbladder and indigestion issues. Praying this mess goes away when Eva Kate clears out some room in there!

 Life-wise: cross country is gearing up! We also are still sitting with our house on the market--pray for patience and clarity please!!!!!!
